Seminar: AOAMs and the museum world
The kick-off of the 9th OpenArch conference was a seminar focused on archaeological open air museums and their dialogue with traditional museums andworld. This seminar was held in the Oriel Suite of National Museum Cardiff and was coordinated by EXARC and La Ciutadella Ibèrica of Calafell with the collaboration of the conference host St Fagans National History Museum.
Mr David Anderson, President of the UK Museums Association, gave the conference welcome words and an inspiring lecture about the role of museums in society.
The seminar was divided in 3 parts: the first one with keynote presentations from three experts (Martin Schmidt, Margriet Lestraden and Lucas Eeckhout) coming from Germany and the Netherlands, the second one, statements from OpenArch partners regarding their own experiences, OpenArch inputs and challenges about their links with the museum world. Finally, an open discussion with the audience, mostly professionals from museums.
The results and conclusions of this seminar will be compiled in an upcoming OpenArch product: a booklet about the theme of the OpenArch workpackage 6 (The Dialogue with Museums and Museum Organisations).
