Early autumn 2011 it was decided that two key people if IMTAL Europe would be involved in the organisation of the upcoming OpenArch conference in Foteviken. The IMTAL Board delegated Mark Wallis, senior mediator with 20 years’ experience in live interpretation and Tony Jackson, Board member and Emeritus Professor of Educational Theatre at the University of Manchester. His recent books include Learning through Theatre, 1993 (new edition 2013); Theatre, education and the making of meanings, 2007; and (edited with Jenny Kidd) Performing Heritage: research, practice and innovation in museum theatre and live interpretation.
A preparatory meeting took place at the museum of Foteviken early 2011. The strategy and structure of the meeting was discussed and agreed, the venues were checked, both for the conference itself as for accommodation et cetera.
